Workout Recovery with Publix- $25 Gift Card Giveaway

Clay and I are both avid athletes. While I train for races, Clay trains for BJJ tournaments and works out at a BJJ gym 3-4 times a week. Both of us also lift weights and do yoga.

With our active lifestyle, we’re conscious about our diets and the foods use to fuel our workouts. Since both of us do SOMETHING every day, every meal is either fueling a future workout or recovering from our last workout.

Many of our workouts take place 20-30 minutes from home, including my bridge runs and some of my races. Thankfully, no matter where you work out or run in the Charleston area, you’re never far from a Publix , a wonderful grocery store AND a sponsor of the Savannah Women’s Half Marathon and 5K.

Post Workout Recovery

Our bodies need quality foods for recovery, whether we’re recovering from a run, BJJ, gym session, or injury. One of the gyms where I cross train is down the road from Publix, so I stopped in to grab a post-workout snack after BodyPump.

Since I’m lifting twice a week and building my running mileage, getting extra protein is key, and I love Quest bars and Oh Yeah ONE bars. I can eat them while sitting in Charleston traffic on my way home, without making a mess.

Publix also carries Rockin Refuel chocolate milk. Most chocolate milks are full of sugar, but this one contains a high amount of protein. It also tastes delicious after a run. Thankfully, there’s a Publix in Mt. Pleasant, just a few miles from the Cooper River Bridge, where I do my long runs and I love grabbing a chocolate milk for the ride home.

Deli Online Ordering

Publix Sub Sandwiches are one of my favorite lunch items. On days when I have a lot of meetings, it’s nice to order a sandwich online, then go to Publix to pick it up and eat between meetings. Clay works across the street from the Mt. Pleasant Publix, so he often does this too for a quick and healthy lunch.

You can customize your Publix sandwich online by picking your bread, meat, veggies, and condiments. The calorie counts display for each ingredient, which is helpful if you follow IIFYM or use MyFitnessPal. You can select your pick up time, so when you go to the Publix Deli, your sandwich is ready and you can skip the line. Publix subs are about $5-6 for a small sandwich, so it’s budget friendly.

Between two meetings on Tuesday, I ordered a tuna on wheat. I ordered just before my first meeting, and it was ready when the meeting was over, so I could pick it up, check out, and be on my way home to eat before my next meeting. My order was accurate and delicious.

Publix Gift Card Giveaway

If you live in Charleston, you probably shop at Publix. From Awendaw to West Ashley, there’s a Publix near you. Publix stores are all over Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, and the Carolinas.

With the cost of athletic activities and groceries, I don’t know anyone who can’t use $25 toward fueling and recovering from their workouts, so I’m giving away a $25 gift card to Publix.

Everyone has two chances to enter, just leave a separate comment for each option:

  • Visit the Publix store locator and comment with the Publix location near you. You can just comment with the city.
  • Comment on this post with your favorite aisle of the grocery store. My favorite aisle is definitely the ice cream aisle.

(Since my readers are from all over the world, if you want to comment on the post with any thoughts, go ahead- just don’t comment with your city if you don’t live near Publix.)

Giveaway ends March 17- St. Patrick’s Day. May the luck of the Irish be with you!

As an ambassador for the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon and 5K, I received a complimentary gift card to Publix in exchange for this post and one to give away. I did not receive any monetary compensation for this post. I’m thankful Publix offers quality groceries for our family and choses to sponsor races and events.
