Tequila, Tacos, and Trivia at Local’s
On Tuesday, Clay and I joined his coworkers for Tequila, Tacos, and Trivia at Local’s Bar in Mt. Pleasant. Local’s is a unique concept, as it’s a sports bar but they also serve other foods like hibachi, sushi, and tacos. Usually if a sports bar tries to serve un-sporty foods, this goes horribly wrong- but Local’s gets it right.
I had two tacos- the grilled fish and the grilled shrimp, which are buy one get one half off on Tuesdays, and Clay had sushi. On other days of the week, they offer buy one get one half off sushi and different specials, including happy hour specials from 4-7. We got there early enough to double-dip and get the happy hour specials AND the Tuesday specials.
Tuesday is trivia day, and our team won trivia, scoring a $50 gift card to Local’s!
Charleston Beer Runners
Thursday night is Clay’s game night and usually my rest day from running, so I’ve been hanging out with the Charleston Beer Runners. They run from Hampton Park to various restaurants and pubs downtown. A lot of people also park at the restaurant and run to the park for some extra mileage and to have cars at the finish.
Last week, we ran to Mac’s Place on East Bay Street. It’s a Chicago Bears bar with drink specials and really good pub food. The company was great as well. I’ve only run with the group one time but everyone is so welcoming even if you just want to hang out. It’s a lot of fun. Tonight’s meetup is the Beer Runners documentary movie, so I’m looking forward to a trip to the movies with everyone.
Halloween is on the way
I got super excited when I spotted Monster Cereals in Walmart. I try to stay away from sugary cereals, but Count Chocula is one of my weaknesses.
It’s in a family sized box, which is perfect for those of us training for races and eating as much as a normal family.
South Carolina vs. East Carolina Football Game
We love going to University of South Carolina games and haven’t been in a few years, so when our friend Jeffrey offered us tickets to Saturday’s sold out home game against ECU, we happily took him up on the offer. Charleston is only about an hour and a half from Columbia, so the drive isn’t too bad either.
Football might be a Fall sport, but it certainly didn’t feel like Fall on Saturday. With temperatures in the 90s, we kept leaving our seats to go to the concessions area to cool off. Plus, it started at 4 PM and the sun was bright in the sky, so my nose now looks like Rudolph’s (oops). Despite the heat, we had a really awesome time and South Carolina pulled out the win. It was an ugly win, and we’re probably the worst 2-1 team in the NCAA right now, but a win is a win.
I hope you guys are having a wonderful week so far- and I hope it’s cooler where you are!
