If you ask Charleston locals which running event our city is known for, everyone will tell you the Cooper River Bridge Run. After all, the Bridge Run is the largest race in South Carolina and the third largest 10K in the United States.

I ran my first Bridge Run this year and loved it– I love how it brings visitors to Charleston and introduces many people to running and other road races. Tens of thousands of runners, including locals, lace up their shoes for the Bridge Run- and the next day, many retire their running shoes until it’s time to train for the next Bridge Run.

Don’t be one of those people. Since we’ve recovered from the Bridge Run, it’s time to think about summerraces- including the Race the Landing 5K series at Charles Towne Landing.

  1. What a cool race series! Also really cool that you get a medal at each race. We have a few 5K race series (serieses? seri? LOL) and they are SUPER reasonable, but no medals. You pay like $20 for five races or something. I think the post race parties are supposed to be pretty cool though. Good luck with the series!

Yeah, this one does cost a lot more than $20 for 5 total races, but it ends up being cheaper than most single races are while including a lot more bang for your buck. I think of it as a night out that includes a tempo run because it’s too hot to really race here in the summer. I plan to just tempo each one of them.

Is this the series where you can win the cool animal figurine age group awards? I wish we had a race series like this in Wilmington, but like Charleston, it is really hot here in the summer and I guess runners just don’t race.

    • Amy Lauren says:

Yep- it’s that series. Age groups are pretty big so a lot of people who may not place in other races place at Race the Landing.

I’m surprised at how many summer races we have down here. July and August are pretty dead, but we have a lot in May and June, and September’s a huge month.

  3. Such an awesome race series!

  4. Yippee!!! I remember these from last year. Hope you have a blast with them.
