Five Question Friday: Christmas Decoration Edition!

Five Question FridayHey guys! I haven’t done this in a LONG time, but it’s time for Five Question Friday!

First, let’s see what’s been going on this week.

On Tuesday, we did tons of Christmas decorating here at my job, which makes my workplace look festive and I really like that. We have decorations up on everyone’s cubicles, and we also have two Christmas trees up, wreathes and garland on the steps leading up to the office, and garland down the aisles. The temperatures also dropped this week, so it actually feels more like Christmas here. Guess it’s time to retire my flip flops for the season, but I am still wearing shorts to run.

Thursday, we had a reporter come to cross country practice to take pictures of the kids and coaches. A TV crew and another reporter were supposed to come and didn’t show. I felt bad for the kids because one little boy REALLY wanted to be on TV. The pictures they took turned out cute though- all the kids were so ready to get it over with because they were wearing the skimpy XC uniforms. It seems like every time they have to wear uniforms to practice for a picture, it’s freezing out! I was pretty grateful to be wearing a long-sleeved t-shirt and pants!

Today, I’m working away. I haven’t been able to get all my extra hours in due to accidentally sleeping late, so last night I did editing from home while watching cartoons and sitting by the Christmas tree. Talk about a pretty cool work environment! I also have to go to the mall today and return some items (boo for things not fitting when you get them home!) and buy a few more Christmas presents at Target.

And… that’s pretty much it! So here are the questions:

1. What is your favorite Christmas decoration in your house?

Clay and I decorated for Christmas on Saturday before the Clemson/Carolina game (which was a great game with a great outcome, might I add, since Carolina won). I love my Clemson fan friends but am hoping everyone will put the rivalry to rest until next year.

We have tons of ornaments and decorations, and we had a few exciting new additions this year. I like buying Christmas ornaments when fun things happen so that I can remember them come Christmastime.

First, I have a 13.1 Christmas ornament I ordered after completing my first half marathon. I hope to run more half marathons in the future, and I surely wouldn’t buy an ornament for all of them, but your first is always exciting. It has the race name, date, and my finish time on it.

Second, we have Mr. and Mrs. stocking hangers since we got married this year. I’m hoping to buy a married couple Christmas ornament this weekend.

Third, we bought a Christmas ornament when we went on our honeymoon cruise on the Freedom of the Seas (I also have an ornament from our cruise last year on the Carnival Fantasy).

So those are our cool Christmas decoration additions for 2011!

2. Do you finish your Christmas shopping early or are you a last minute type?

I’ve gotten a lot of it done but still have a few things to go, especially for guy friends. Why are men so hard to buy for?!?!

3. When do you turn on your heat?

Usually Clay turns it on, and I’m not sure when he did, but I’ve been pretty comfortable and not too chilly at home. It’s a different story at work because it always feels like Christmas at my desk.

Wearing short sleeves and eating ice cream... it obviously didn't feel like Christmas at my desk on this day.

4. Do you ever wish your blog was private?

Not really- I think blogs are meant to be public. If I wanted to write privately and have no one see it, I would start another blog and have a password that only I knew, or keep a paper journal. I don’t plan to ever make this blog private or password protect it.

However, a few months ago, I got some hurtful comments which prompted me to moderate comments (only your first comment should be moderated, and I approve them pretty quickly). I hate having to moderate, because I trust my readers and the people who comment- you guys are awesome. I googled the IP address of whoever was posting the comments, and judging by the location, I highly, highly, doubt I know or have ever met the person. But, blogging is supposed to be fun, and hurtful, harassing comments are NOT fun, so this definitely filters that out.

5. Do you put your deodorant on before of after you put on your shirt?

This is a pretty off-the-wall question after the Christmas and winter questions, but definitely before- otherwise I wind up with white marks all over my dark shirts!

And… that’s it for tonight! I’m going to chill out beside the tree, watch TV (How the Grinch Stole Christmas is on ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas tonight!) and eat this wonderful salad my husband brought in. So I’ll leave you this pic for your tastebud envy ;).

Hey Girl!! I got your email for the 2011 Christmas Card Swap… but your address wasn’t on there, so if you could email me as soon as you can I’d appreciate it!! 🙂

  4. I love ornaments with stories behind them too. It makes it way better. I agree about the blogging too. A private blog is just a diary in my opinion. If that is your jive and you just want a diary so be it but I don’t think I could ever have a private blog.

  5. Great post- really enjoyed reading it.

We made our department festive at work last week. It’s the first year we’ve done that, but why not? We usually spend more of our time at the office than at home. It definitely looks like Christmas in there now. Feels like it too…. brrrrr!

Your new ornaments are so cute! I definitely love the ones that always have a story behind them. Every year when it’s time to put up the tree, you’ll remember those special times.

I just completed my first half marathon and was looking for a Christmas ornament to celebrate and remember. I love yours! Where did you have it made?
