Savings Sunday: This Week’s Bargains

If you’ve known me for any length of time, you know I love a deal!

The price of everything is going up lately- even sale prices aren’t as good as they once were, so using coupons is definitely the way to go. This week, Harris Teeter has “Super Double Coupons”, which means they double coupons up to $1.98. So, if you have a $1.50 off coupon, it doubles to save $3. Pretty sweet!

TLC might not consider this a great couponing trip, but I do!

I made a trip to the Teeter on Wednesday morning and got all of this for around $14. Plus, I got two “$4 off your next purchase” coupons from buying the Blue Diamond Almonds and Almond Thins. The $4 off your next purchase coupons are good on any items, so I can use them to save when buying fruits and veggies, or Clay could use them to save on meat.

I don’t have a coupon binder, and you won’t see me buying 100 packs of gum or 20 bottles of ketchup- I don’t even like ketchup! I usually share my purchases with my parents, too (my mom will definitely be getting some almond thins). Plus, since the holidays are coming fast, I’ll easily be able to contribute to food drives.

Speaking of the holidays, I got some neat Christmas decorations at the Florence Area Humane Society yard sale yesterday! I didn’t have long to shop because I was on my way to the Run Like a Nut race, which I’ll blog about later, but I managed to pick up a few cute things.

Pretty cute picture for celebrating our first Christmas as a married couple!

Humane Society Yard Sale- Had to buy something with animals on it, right?

Another great thing about yard sales is baked goods. A very nice lady sold me two pieces of homemade cake for $1. You can’t beat that for a slice of homemade cake, especially when it comes with a super cute napkin!

Don't forget to wipe your paws!

Amazing prices, great stuff, and proceeds going to the local animal shelter is definitely a WIN for everyone! I think the yard sale is an annual event, so hopefully I can make it out next year too.

Wow, you are so lucky that Harris Teeter does the double coupons even after hitting the $1.00 mark! Shop n Save (where my fam. shops) does double coupons but only up to 99 cents. You got some goodies! Woo hoo 😀

Well, they do it like maybe every other month for a week, but they double up to 99 cents every day :). Even when it’s not a special week, you can still get some amazing deals with doubles!

  3. So, wait, I’m confused – where do you get the super double coupons? Or are they just manufacturer’s coupons they let you double? If that’s the case, how do you find out when that deal’s going on?

Harris Teeter doubles coupons up to 99 cents every day. But, with Super Doubles week, they double any coupon that is under $1.98. So no, not a special coupon, just a regular one from the newspaper or printable that is under that amount.

Southern Savers blog (on my blogroll on here) posts the sale items on Tuesday nights for a lot of grocery stores… normally sales start on Wednesday so you get them a day in advance. Even if you don’t really coupon, it’s handy to know what will be on sale at so many stores by going to one place. They also post which coupons to use to get the best prices. But, the Super Doubles Coupon week is pretty big, so for something like that, when they know in advance, they usually post the deals several days before like on Sunday.

      • OK, well I think I’m going to take that class you sent me and subscribe to the paper again. I miss the paper anyway, but I didn’t realize HT doubled coupons all the time! How do you know what week Super Doubles week is? I get their emails, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything about Super Doubles Week … unless I missed it?
