What I Ate Wednesday: Hurricane Preparedness Edition

Hey guys! This is the first time I’ve ever done a “What I Ate Wednesday” post, but I’ve read plenty of others (and always wondered how people could blog about what they ate on the same day they ate it), so I decided to participate.

In the eyes of internet blogs, I’m not a very healthy eater, anyway.

However, Hurricane Irene is possibly threatening Coastal South Carolina, and you guys know what that means? Freezer eating PAR-TAY. May as well eat it up in case the power goes out, right?

Let's see if hurricanes tweet, shall we?

So, here are a few pictures of what I’ve been eating in preparation for the zombie apocalypse Hurricane Irene’s possible arrival.

milk

Lactose free milk. Hey, I gotta get my calcium, and dark chocolate almond milk is so amazing.

Oh no, Hurricane Irene is NOT getting these! They're small and a perfect dessert :).

Now, here are some awesome eats for a hurricane stash. You always hear about bottled water or bread… yes, those are good. But I can’t live without my peanut butter…

And almond butter that looks slightly out of place.

Or snack bars. The Iron Girl bars are pretty awesome. I got them at Target and they have extra iron in them for female athletes and those of us dealing with conditions like anemia.

My stash 🙂

And, since I have a strained quad due to running 5738395 laps on a very, very small track the day after doing CrossFit, I took the day off of running to do something else: bake.

Yay coffee cake!

I baked a Cinnamon Bun coffee cake to celebrate my handsome husband’s first day back to class (he’s a computer programming major and getting his second degree, already has a chemistry degree- I married an overachiever!).

Gun Show!

Of course, this is not ALL I ate. I had a healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with my piece of cinnamon cake, mini Dove bar, and glass of chocolate almond milk. It’s all about balance, and I don’t deprive myself of goodies :).

  1. HA! I am preying Irene goes back out to sea too. Not that it really matters since I’m going back to school but wahh she looks like a bad one. That coffee cake looks so freaking good!

Yeah, it’s headed toward where you live (or, at least where your family lives since you’ll be back at college if it hits there). Still though, hurricanes are scary even if it’s not a direct hit! Seems like a lot of them go to the northeastern states in the past few years too…

  2. Mmm, PB&Co for a disaster….sounds good to me! Nice stash!

And I’m with you on being confused as how bloggers were blogging about the food they ate on wednesday…when wednesday wasn’t over. So I just do Tuesday hahaha

    Happy first WIAW!

Thanks for reading! Yeah I just figured that out in the rules, that it can be any day, just post it on Wednesday. So that’s definitely a better idea!

PB&CO is how I will survive the zombie Apocalypse. I mean, hurricane. Yeah, hurricane, that’s it…

I love the Clif Mojo bars, especially the mountain mix kind. I’ve really been wanting to try the white chocolate macadamia Mojo, but I haven’t seen it yet! And I agree, the Silk dark chocolate almond milk is so good!

I haven’t ever seen the White Chocolate Macadamia Mojo, but the regular white chocolate macadamia is good, Clay really liked it.

Almond milk is much better than soy milk too, imho.

looks like you may just get a little wind and rain! but, good thing you ate all the ice cream goodies, just in case 🙂

    • proudpatriot07 says:

Yeah, I’m thankful we won’t get a direct hit, but I hope NOWHERE does, ya know? We could use a little rain here, however. It’s very dry in the dirty dirty.

I did not eat all the ice cream but I have been eating one of the little bars every day as a treat, lol.

  5. Oh those balance bars are just CANDY really…I swear. The caramel one tastes like an amped up Twix. 🙂

I just bought four jars of PB&Co because it was buy one get one free…so I feel like I’m storing up for a hurricane…even though I’m definitely not.

    • proudpatriot07 says:

Yeah, a lot of bars are basically candy, but I guess it beats eating real candy because at least these have some nutrients in them, and less saturated fat.

I would love a BOGO sale on PB&CO peanut butter! But I do have a coupon so I think I am going to buy some more of the white chocolate because that is almost out.

  6. Hahaha I love the stash of nut butter you’ve got there!

  7. That dark choco almond milk IS amazing! I buy the little one-serving containers so I don’t just drink a whole 1/2 gallon 😀 And I have yet to try PB&Co, but cinnamon raisin PB sounds particularly amazing.
