So, my best friends and I went to Myrtle Beach last weekend. I guess it was supposed to be sort of a bachelorette getaway (if I was a typical bride, lol), but really it was more of a girly weekend getaway, and it was loads of fun.
I’m so thankful that my friends still live in the area and didn’t move extremely far away after college, so we can actually get together sometimes. It’s pretty nice :).
On Saturday afternoon, after a quick pit stop at Dunkin’ Donuts for my coffee fix, Jenn’s Mountain Dew fix (how someone picks Mountain Dew over iced coffee? I will never understand!), and Tiffany’s Cherry Coke, we were off to the beach.
It wasn’t some sort of crazy wild night, but we had dinner at Margaritaville (Veggie Burger & Salad for the win!), and the waiter gave us a really awesome strawberry shortcake dessert. Yep, 3 girls, one dessert, and we *still* left some of it on the table.
Jenn also taught Tiffany and I how to play pool. I guess I’ve lived a sheltered life, not knowing how to play pool at 25, but I didn’t do too shabby and actually won a game!
The next morning, we went shopping to find a dress for Jenn to wear in the wedding. Jenn tried on way more dresses to wear to my wedding than I did (did I mention I went to one bridal shop and tried on the single dress they had in my size- which was still too big? Those stores need to do a better job of stocking!). Tiffany also bought a kickin’ leather laptop bag so that she can style and profile the next time she goes into a courtroom :). Anyway- we shopped till we dropped (literally. Tiff and I were falling asleep on the ride back to Florence).
I absolutely love my best friends. I’ve been friends with these girls since sophomore year of college. Sure, we don’t get to spend a ton of time together anymore now that we’re all out of school and work, but you always know a best friend when you’re able to hang out after spending months apart, and you don’t even realize you were EVER apart.
Over the years I’ve learned that sometimes people are in our lives for a season, and sometimes they’re in our lives forever- and I’m so glad that God blessed me with “forever friends” in college, at a time of life when I really needed them. Love you guys!
