This week has been a rough one. Between Clay’s granddad’s funeral on Saturday, my doctor’s office fiasco on Tuesday, my diagnosis on Wednesday, working all week, and trying to get everything packed and prepared for my cruise, I’ve been extremely busy. I’ve experienced tons of emotions, punched some pillows, and cried a lot of tears- which many of you know, is VERY rare for me.
Fortunately, I’ll be able to get away from the stresses of the mainland U.S. for a week with my fabulous fiance (who now tweets!). On Sunday, we leave on our cruise to Nassau, Freeport, and Key West. We also get two fun days at sea and formal nights!
I totally loved my first cruise, and I can’t wait for this one! Granted, I need to sleep more on this one (at least 8 hours per day/night) and of course, stay healthy… but I can’t wait to slide down the water slide 5734835 times, utilize the FREE room service (NOT a buffet fan- would much rather have someone bring me food than eat from a trough), and lay out in the sun!
This morning, I went to the gym and lifted weights. I can’t run or do anything
fun high-intensity, but weight training is allowed (and believe me, it’s one of the few workouts that isn’t forbidden). Maybe I can work on building muscles, and hopefully I’ll be able to wear tank tops and sleeveless shirts and show off arms like our First Lady (well, eventually). After my workout, I went to Subway and got a 6-inch Egg White Omelet sub on Honey Oat bread, topped off with spinach, tomatoes, onions, peppers, black olives, and light mayo (18 g protein, 15% RDV iron, BEFORE the spinach). It was totally yummy, even if it did make me want to go back to sleep.
Besides that, I did some last-minute pre-cruise shopping to get a watch, waterproof camera for snorkeling, etc. I’m not a watch person; I always just use my cell phone, but apparently the time of that changes at sea and doesn’t match the ship’s time. After looking at the watches at Target, I just bought the one that was already set. Sometimes convenience trumps everything else ;).
Oh, and I made a “Coming of Age” purchase this week.
In happier news, Clay won another TV at the IRIX company party. Each year we go to the party that they have for the employees on the Friday before Memorial Day, and they always have door prizes and drawings. Last year, I won a digital camera (hence so many pictures on this blog), and he won… a TV. This year, the big prize was yet again a TV and yup, he won it. Say a warm welcome to the newest member of Clay’s electronic family… HDTV #5 (yup, 5. Two of which are used as computer monitors).
So, that’s it from me for a few days. I’m off to spend some time on an island in the sun, on the beach and having fun. Be prepared for tons of pictures and blog posts when I return!
